This Cajun, Black Bean, Oat burger will definitely hit the spot when you get that craving for a nice, hearty burger, which lets be real, we all get that every once in awhile!
These are great if you are trying to eat more plant-based foods. Not only are they delicious, but they are filling and you can reap some health benefits along with it. Black beans are filled with fiber which aids in digestion, assists maintaining healthy bones & can lower blood pressure.
This recipe is quick & easy. It only takes about 30 minutes to make and will leave you feeling full & satisfied. These are perfect to make for family dinners through out the week. It makes about 6 patties.
Ingredients you will need:
1 medium yellow onion
2 cloves garlic
1.5 cups black beans **any beans you like
1/3 cup walnuts
1 tbsp cajun seasoning spice
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika powder
1tsp red pepper flakes
2 tbsp ground flax seeds (add 6 tbsp water – let sit for 5 minutes until flax seeds gel, stirring once halfway)
3/4 cup oat flour (gluten-free, If necessary)
Recommended toppings:
beets
arugula
onion
tomato
cucumber
Directions:
1. Place oven to 450 F.
2. Add all ingredients for the patty the food processor except the oats - blend on high and scrape down sides until well combined.
3. Place mixture into a separate large bowl and mix in the oat flour.
4. Divide the bean and oat mixture into the desired number of patties (about 6).
5. Place in the oven for 13 minutes, remove and flip the burgers, place back in the oven for another 10 - 13 minutes.

A delicious sauce that pairs perfectly with this is - Cajun Mayo!
Ingredients you will need - Cajun mayo:
1/3 cup raw cashews (pre-soaked in water)
Juice of 1 lime
2 tsp cajun seasoning spice
Prepare the Cajun mayo by placing all ingredients in a blender of food processor,
adding 1/4 cup water - blend on high until creamy consistency.
