My go-to nut butter was always almond, until I found out cashew butter was a thing. Oh my gosh, it is so creamy and has such a rich, sweet flavor!
Cashews are nutrient dense and full of heart healthy benefits. They contain several minerals & vitamins including iron, magnesium, vitamin B6 & calcium. They are filled with healthy fats & promote strong bones, a healthy heart and great for hair & skin support— love that for us!
You can make your own cashew butter at home, all you need are roasted cashews & a food processor.
I most commonly use cashew butter as a topping for my smoothie bowls, but it can also be used as a dip for apples or celery. Another option is spreading it on toast topped with some fresh berries, drizzled with honey.
Ingredients you will need:
2 cups of roasted cashews **make sure they are roasted, not raw
**If you use raw cashews, place the cashews onto a baking sheet into a 350 F oven and cook for
7 - 10 minutes until golden brown.
Directions:
1. Place cashews in food processor and place on high.
2. Let the food processor run on high for 7-10 minutes until creamy consistency - scraping down sides as necessary.
3. Place in an air tight container.
Enjoy!
As you can see from the photo to the right, cashew butter makes for the perfect topping for a homemade smoothie bowl - I mean look how delicious that looks!
This bowl is jam packed with vitamins and minerals, but tastes like you are eating dessert.
